2011 Lexus IS-F

Lexus UK revealed today the first details on the 2011 IS-F Sports sedan. For the first time the car will be offered with limited slip differential, but also new high-tech features and a cool new all-white interior lead. In UK prices start at £55,595.

The 2011 Lexus IS F also comes with a new HDD satellite navigation system with a 40GB hard disc drive and a 10GB storage space for music. The 2011 Lexus IS F is equipped with a 14-speaker Mark Levinson 5.1 surround sound system that can receive DAB digital broadcasts and has a USB port.

Sharper handling, new high-tech features and a cool new all-white interior lead the list of improvements and changes for Lexus’s ultra-high-performance IS F for 2011.

Limited slip differential

As announced at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show, the full-blooded sports saloon gains the benefit of a new limited slip differential. Fitted as standard, it gives the IS F significantly better traction and stability in high-speed cornering: Lexus test engineers were able to improve the car’s lap time around the Fuji International Speedway by a full two seconds.

The Torsen unit is robust enough to handle the 505Nm delivered by the IS F’s 5.0-litre V8 engine, automatically directing drive torque to the rear wheel with the most grip. Out-and-out performance is unchanged, with the IS F capable of nought to 62mph acceleration in 4.8 seconds and a top speed (electronically limited) of 168mph.

HDD satellite navigation

In keeping with Lexus’s reputation for effective use of advanced technologies, the IS F is fitted with a new satellite navigation system, powered by a 40GB hard disc drive (HDD). It is one of the fastest-responding and most accurate guidance systems on the market, giving full-map coverage across Europe, with automatic links to local traffic information data to ensure efficient route planning.

The HDD also provides an on-board ”sound library” function, with 10GB of disc space available for owners to store tracks from CD – space enough for around 2,000 songs.

DAB audio

The tuner in the IS F’s 14-speaker Mark Levinson 5.1 surround sound system has been upgraded to receive DAB digital broadcasts and a USB port has been added (in addition to the Aux-in jack), to allow for fully integrated connection of portable digital music players.

New leather interior and alloy wheel options

IS F can be ordered with a new white leather interior in place of the standard black finish and with new mesh-design 19-inch alloy wheels instead of the standard 10-spoke design. Both are no-cost options.

New York Auto Show: 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

Porsche announced The all-new 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid at the New York Auto Show.

The Cayenne S Hybrid gets a 3.o-liter V6 engine that is supercharged and mated to a 47-hp electric motor for a total of 380-hp and 427 ft-lbs of torque. Porsche claims the Cayenne S Hybrid can travel up to 40 mph on just electric power and can cruise on pure electric power at speeds of up to 97 mph.

In total the 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid can make the best out of 380 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid can be driven in electric only mode for up to 60 km/h.

The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid price will be announced at a later date, but the carmaker says the new range will be in showrooms from this fall.

MISSISSAUGA – March 24, 2010 – Porsche will introduce the next-generation Cayenne sport utility vehicle, including a hybrid gas-electric version, to the North American market on March 31 during a press conference at the New York International Automobile Show.

Led by a highly-advanced hybrid model, the new Cayenne delivers improved performance while using less fuel and producing fewer emissions throughout the entire model lineup.

The Canadian Cayenne model range will include four models: the 2011 Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and the Cayenne S Hybrid. The S and Turbo models go on sale in July, with the Cayenne and Cayenne S Hybrid in dealer showrooms this fall.

All the new Cayenne models embody the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy. They are sportier than their predecessors, yet use less fuel and produce fewer emissions. More than just a slogan, Porsche Intelligent Performance shows that high performance and efficiency are not contradictory terms.

Cayenne’s dynamic new design offers less weight and more room
The Cayenne’s new exterior leaves no doubt it is part of the Porsche family. Its sporting character is evident from all angles, and its Porsche shape and highlights are more distinct than before. From a dimensions standpoint, it is 48 mm longer than its predecessor, and its wheelbase adds 40 mm, ensuring extra interior space and greater versatility. Still, despite its larger exterior, this next-generation Cayenne looks even more compact and dynamic.

Thanks to a special combination of materials as well as changes in the overall vehicle concept, such as a new all-wheel drive system, weight has been reduced on all models. Despite a higher standard of safety features, the Cayenne S, for example, is almost 185 kg lighter, which not only improves fuel consumption and lowers emissions, but also boosts performance, agility, and handling.

Inside, the luxurious interior features a high center console that, like the Panamera, rises up at an incline to meet the dashboard center stack and a touch-screen infotainment interface. Porsche’s traditional set of five round instruments in the driver’s gauge cluster includes a high-resolution circular TFT screen to the right of the tachometer. It can be used to change radio stations, vehicle settings, access the navigation system or view the map. Rear-seat comfort is improved, as well. The bench slides fore-and-aft by 160 mm, while the backrest can be adjusted.

The advanced Cayenne S Hybrid
The high-tech Cayenne S Hybrid that debuts at the New York show next week features a highly-sophisticated parallel full hybrid system. With a combined power output of 380 horsepower from the supercharged V6 combustion engine and an electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid combines the performance of a V8 with the economy of a V6.

Through continuous interaction between the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 and electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid focuses on maximum efficiency. Depending on driving conditions, either drive unit can operate independently or together. The 47-horsepower (34 kW) electric motor is the ideal partner for the 333-horsepower engine, which produces high torque at low engine speeds. With peak torque at 428 lb-ft at just 1,000 rpm, the Cayenne S Hybrid’s performance is on par with a V8-powered Cayenne S.

The Cayenne S Hybrid’s two drive units are connected by a decoupling clutch. A hybrid controller constantly coordinates their complex interaction, and intelligent management of the clutch makes the transition among various driving modes seamless. Like many hybrids, the Cayenne S Hybrid can cover short distances on electric power alone, free of emissions and noise up to 60 km/h. For aggressive acceleration, the motor provides an extra ‘boost’ to the gasoline engine.

A new standard for sport utility vehicles
All new-generation Cayenne SUVs set high standards for efficiency and performance. Compared with the former models, fuel consumption is down by up to 23 percent in the New European Driving Cycle and CO2 emissions are reduced. (Transport Canada fuel economy figures will be available when the cars go on sale in July.)

A new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with a wide range of gear ratios and the Automatic Start Stop function (first introduced on the Panamera) contribute to these improvements. So does efficient thermal management of the engine and transmission cooling circuits, on-board electrical network recuperation, variable deceleration fuel cut-off and the Cayenne’s intelligent lightweight construction.

The entry-level Cayenne with its 300-horsepower, 3.6-litre V6 mated to the new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission consumes 20 percent less fuel than its predecessor.

Fuel consumption is also down significantly on the high-torque Cayenne S. Its 4.8-litre V8 produces 400 horsepower, 15 more than the previous model.

The Cayenne Turbo, with its 500-horsepower, 4.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8, also consumes less fuel than its predecessor despite its improved performance and acceleration.

Three other new Porsche models are making their New York debuts next week. Most prominent is the agile, light and dynamic 2011 Boxster Spyder. This purist version of Porsche’s popular mid-engine sports car is the lightest Porsche available and is on sale now with an MSRP of $72,900. Also on display will be the 2011 911 Turbo Cabriolet, featuring a 500-horsepower 3.8-liter engine – the first entirely new engine in 911 Turbo’s storied 35-year- history. Finally, the new Porsche Panamera, the company’s first four-door Gran Turismo, will grace the Porsche display in New York.

McLaren has released an official video of last week's MP4-12C press launch.

The 12C is powered by a bespoke McLaren ‘M838T’ 3.8 litre, V8 twin-turbo engine producing around 600bhp, driving through a McLaren seven speed Seamless Shift dual clutch gearbox (SSG). It is targeting not only new standards for power and performance in its sector, but also class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions; supported by McLaren’s experience of active aerodynamics to aid cooling, grip, handling and road holding.

The MP4-12C will likely accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.8 seconds and have a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph).

It will be priced between £125,000 ($186,155 / €139,447) and £175,000 ($260,487 / €195,225) and "will feature innovative technical and customer-focused engineering and design that will offer new levels of performance in its price bracket."

2010 Saab 95 price Announced for British market

The SAAB 9-5 price for UK's market was announced today and customers can already purchase them from dealerships.and prices start at £26,495 for an entry level model.

The 2010 Saab 95 is available in two trim levels, Vector SE and Aero, and a choice between various diesel and petrol engines. The diesel versions of the 2010 Saab 95 include the 2.0TiD with 160PS and the 2.0TTiD with 190PS. The petrol 2010 Saab 95 models are powered by either a 1.6T engine with 180PS,

The new Saab 9-5 features a generous array of standard equipment across the
range. There are two levels of specification:

Vector SE

The ‘Vector SE’ specification is the starting point for 9-5 ownership, and is
available to order at launch with the 2.0-litre TiD diesel engine or the
2.0-litre petrol engine. A 1.6T petrol and 2.0TTiD twin turbo diesel engine will
be available to order from model year 2011 (mid-2010). Highlights include
leather/textile comfort seats, auto dimming interior mirror, AUX & USB sockets
with MP3/iPod integration, bluetooth phone integration system, heated front
seats, keyless push button engine start/stop, park assist (front and rear), rain
sensor windscreen wipers, 17” alloy wheels, electronic climate control (dual
zone) and cruise control.

Aero

Saab customers can opt for the higher Aero specification with prices starting at
£31,195 for the 2.0T petrol engine, alongside the flagship 2.8T petrol engine
with XWD. The 2.0TTiD twin turbo diesel engine is available to order from model
year 2011 (mid-2010). In addition to the Vector SE’s standard features,
highlights include 19” alloy wheels, Aero front and rear bumpers, twin exposed
tailpipes, bi-xenon headlights, headlight washers, dual electric seats, leather
sport seats, alloy pedals and sport chassis.
